Long ago, after the great flood, all the people on earth spoke the same language. They could understand each other perfectly. It was like a big happy family talking and laughing together.

One day, they all came to a wide, flat land called Shinar. The sun was shining warmly, and the sky was a bright blue blanket above them. The people said to each other, “Let’s build a city!” They wanted to make a place where they could live close together.

They had a big idea. “Let’s build a tower that reaches the sky!” they said excitedly. The tower would be so tall that it could touch the clouds. They wanted to make a name for themselves, so everyone would know how great they were.

The people started working hard. They made bricks from the earth and baked them in the hot sun. The bricks were like little blocks of magic, strong and shiny. They used sticky tar to hold the bricks together, like glue. Day after day, the tower grew taller and taller, reaching higher than the tallest tree.

But God was watching. He saw the people’s hearts. They were proud and wanted to be famous. They forgot about Him, the one who made the sky, the earth, and everything! God loves it when we trust Him and listen to Him.

So God said, “If they all speak the same language, they can do anything they want. But I will make them speak different languages, so they cannot understand each other.” Suddenly, the people began to talk, but their words sounded strange. One person said, “Where is the brick?” but the others heard something very different!

The people were confused. They tried to work, but they could not understand each other. Some spoke fast, some slow, some with funny sounds. It was like a big noisy puzzle! They stopped building the tower and looked at each other with puzzled faces.

Some people felt sad and scared. “Why can’t we understand each other anymore?” they asked. Others felt worried, “How will we finish the tall tower now?” The happy noise of working together turned into quiet whispers and confused chatter.

Because they could not speak the same language, the people scattered all over the earth. They went to different places, where they learned new words and made new friends. God’s plan was to help people live in many places, not all in one city.

The tower was never finished. It was called Babel, which means “confused.” But God still loved the people very much. He wanted them to learn to work together with kindness, even when they spoke different languages.

Isn’t it wonderful that God made so many languages? It’s like having many colors in a big rainbow! God wants us to love each other, no matter what words we speak.

So, the story of the Tower of Babel teaches us that God is the one who made the world and all the people. He wants us to remember Him and to be humble, not proud. When we listen to God, He helps us live happily together.
