David and Goliath – Kids Bible Story of Courage and Faith

Share:

David was a young boy who took care of sheep. He loved God very much and trusted Him with all his heart. One day, David went to bring food to his brothers who were soldiers in the army.

The army of Israel was afraid. A giant named Goliath came from the other side, the Philistines. Goliath was very tall and strong. He wore heavy armor that shined like the sun. His voice was loud like thunder.

Every day, Goliath shouted, “Who will fight me?” But no one was brave enough. The soldiers were scared. They thought, “How can we fight such a giant?”

David listened carefully. He asked, “Why is everyone so afraid? Doesn’t God help us?” David knew God was big and strong. He believed God would help him too.

King Saul saw David and said, “You are just a boy. How can you fight a giant?” But David said, “The Lord who saved me from lions and bears will save me from Goliath.”

David did not wear heavy armor. Instead, he took his sling and five smooth stones from the river. The stones sparkled like tiny stars in his hand.

David walked toward Goliath with courage. Goliath laughed and said, “Am I a dog that you come to fight me with sticks?” But David was not scared. He knew God was with him.

David put a stone in his sling. He swung it fast, like a bird flying in the sky. The stone flew through the air and hit Goliath’s forehead. The giant fell down with a big thud!

Everyone was amazed! The army cheered, and David smiled because God had helped him win. David said, “The Lord saves us, and He gives us strength.”

This story shows us that no matter how big our problems are, God is bigger and stronger. When we trust God, He helps us be brave and do great things!
