2nd Advent – Mary and Elizabeth

Share:

One bright and sunny morning, Mary, a young woman who loved God very much, was surprised by a special message from an angel. The angel told her she would have a baby boy, and His name would be Jesus. Mary was a little scared but also very happy because she trusted God’s plan.

Mary decided to visit her cousin Elizabeth, who was also going to have a baby even though she was very old. Mary walked carefully through green fields and over little hills, feeling the warm sun on her face. She was excited to see Elizabeth and share the wonderful news.

When Mary arrived, Elizabeth’s baby inside her tummy jumped with joy! Elizabeth smiled and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the baby you will have!” Mary felt so loved and happy to hear this. It was like a warm hug from God.

Mary and Elizabeth talked about God’s amazing plans. Mary sang a beautiful song, praising God for being kind and strong. She said, “My soul praises the Lord. He is my Savior!” The room felt full of sunshine and happiness.

Elizabeth told Mary, “God has done a wonderful thing for me. Your baby is very special too!” They both laughed and felt God’s love all around them. Mary knew that Jesus would bring hope and joy to the whole world.

As Mary stayed with Elizabeth, they shared stories and prayers. They thanked God for His promises and felt peace in their hearts. It was a very special visit filled with love, hope, and the magic of God’s plan.

Mary left Elizabeth’s house feeling brave and full of joy. She knew God was with her, and soon, the whole world would know about the baby Jesus, the Savior who would bring light and love to everyone.

Bible passage

Luke 1:39-56 (World English Bible)

39 Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah,

40 and entered the house of Zacharias, and greeted Elizabeth.

41 When Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit,

42 and she cried out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

43 Why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44 For, behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy.

45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”

46 Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord,

47 and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

48 For he has looked on the humble state of his servant. Behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed,

49 for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.

50 His mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation.

51 He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of low degree.

53 He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.

54 He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy,

55 as he spoke to our fathers,
