Once upon a time, a brave man named Joshua led God’s people to a new home. They had walked for a long, long time through hot deserts and tall mountains. Now, they stood before a big city called Jericho. The city had huge walls all around it, like giant stone mountains! The walls were so tall and strong, it seemed impossible to get inside.
Joshua felt a little worried. How could they go in? But God had a special plan. One day, God told Joshua, “Tell the people to walk around the city once every day for six days.” The people were surprised! “Just walk around the city?” they wondered. “No fighting? No shouting?” But they trusted God and did exactly what He said.
So, the people walked quietly around Jericho. They walked with the priests who blew long trumpets made from rams’ horns. The sound was loud and clear, like a big, happy song. Everyone watched and wondered what would happen next. The walls still stood tall, but God’s people kept walking, trusting Him with all their hearts.
On the seventh day, something very special happened. God said, “Today, walk around the city seven times.” The people were excited and a little nervous. They marched around Jericho, step by step, seven times! Then, the priests blew their trumpets very loud, and Joshua told the people, “Shout! The Lord has given you this city!”
Suddenly, the walls began to shake. The stones started to fall down like big blocks of sandcastle crumbling at the beach. Everyone was amazed and a little scared. But Joshua and the people were filled with joy! They knew God was powerful and kept His promises. The city was theirs now, all because they listened to God.
Joshua said a big thank you to God. He knew that God’s love and power can do amazing things. Sometimes, we might feel scared or unsure, but if we trust God like Joshua did, He will help us too. God’s plans are always good, even when we don’t understand them at first.
The people went into the city happily. They knew God was with them every step of the way. The walls of Jericho were gone, but the story of God’s great power stayed in their hearts forever. And that story can be in your heart too!

Bible passage
Joshua 6 (World English Bible)
1 Now Jericho was shut up inside and outside because of the children of Israel. None went out and none came in.
2 Jehovah said to Joshua, “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and mighty men of valor.
3 You shall march around the city, all the men of war going all around the city once. You shall do this for six days.
4 Seven priests shall carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.
5 It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout. Then the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.”
6 Then Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said
