The Resurrection Morning

Early in the morning, just as the sun was waking up and painting the sky with soft pink and orange colors, some women quietly walked to a special garden. Their hearts were heavy and sad because their dear friend, Jesus, had died. They wanted to take care of His body and say goodbye. The garden was peaceful, but their minds were full of questions.

When they reached the place where Jesus was laid, they saw something very strange. The big stone that covered the entrance was rolled away! The garden looked different, like it was holding a big secret. Suddenly, two shining angels appeared, bright as stars in the night sky. The women felt scared but also curious.

One angel spoke softly, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? Jesus is not here! He has come back to life, just like He said He would!” The women’s eyes grew wide with wonder. Could this really be true? Jesus was alive again!

Then, Jesus Himself appeared! His face was shining like the morning sun, and His smile was full of love. He said, “Don’t be afraid. Go and tell my friends the good news: I am alive!” The women’s hearts jumped with joy. They ran to tell everyone, their voices full of happiness, “Jesus is alive! He is alive!”

The world felt new and bright, like a garden full of blooming flowers after the rain. The sadness was gone, replaced by hope and love that never ends. Jesus showed that He is stronger than death, and He wants to be our friend forever.

  • What did the women see when they got to the tomb?
  • Who did the women meet in the garden?
  • What did Jesus say to the women?
  • How do you feel when you hear that Jesus is alive?

Bible passage

Luke 24:1-12

Luke 24:1-12 (ICB)

Very early on Sunday morning, the women went to the tomb. They brought the spices they had made to put on Jesus’ body. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

They went inside, but they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, two men in shining clothes stood beside them.

The women were afraid and bowed down with their faces to the ground. The men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? Jesus is not here. He has been raised from death! Remember what He told you while He was still in Galilee. He said, ‘The Son of Man must be given to sinful people. He must be killed. But after three days, He will be raised to life.’”

The women remembered Jesus’ words. They left the tomb and told the eleven apostles and all the others what had happened. The women were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them.

But the apostles did not believe the women. Their words seemed like nonsense to them. Peter got up and ran to the tomb. He bent down and looked inside. He saw the cloths that had been wrapped around Jesus’ body. Then he went home, wondering what had happened.
