In a hot, dry desert, the people of Israel were walking for many days. They were tired and hungry. The sun was shining bright like a big, golden lamp in the sky. The sand was soft and warm under their feet.

The people started to worry. They said, “We have no food! What will we eat?” Their tummies rumbled like little drums. They looked up at the big blue sky and wondered if God would help them.

God saw His people and loved them very much. He wanted to take care of them. So, He told Moses, “I will give the people food from heaven.” Moses was happy and told the people the good news. They waited with hope in their hearts.

Early the next morning, when the sun was still sleepy and the sky was light pink, something amazing happened. Tiny flakes, like little white feathers, fell from the sky. It looked like soft snow, but it was not cold. It was something special God gave them.

The people gathered the flakes and found out it was sweet and tasty! They called it “manna.” Manna was like little pieces of bread that came from God. It was soft and fresh, like the best treat you ever tasted.

Every morning, the manna covered the ground like a soft blanket. The people smiled and said, “God is taking care of us!” They didn’t have to be afraid or hungry anymore. God gave them exactly what they needed every day.

But God told them, “Gather only enough manna for each day.” If they kept some for the next day, it would get yucky and smell bad. The people learned to trust God to give them food every morning, just like a loving Father.

Sometimes, the people forgot and tried to keep extra manna. But the next day, the old manna was smelly and not good to eat. Then they remembered God’s words and trusted Him more.

On the sixth day, God gave double manna. He said, “Take enough for two days, because tomorrow is a special day to rest.” That special day was called the Sabbath. It was a day to stop working and enjoy God’s peace.

The people felt happy and safe. They knew God loved them and would always help them, even in the desert. The manna was a wonderful gift from God’s heart, like a warm hug on a cold day.

They learned something very important: God is always with us. He gives us what we need, even when things seem hard or scary. We can trust Him every day, just like the people in the desert trusted Him for manna.

And so, the people walked through the desert, eating the bread from heaven. Their hearts were full of joy and thankfulness. They sang songs to God, who cared for them like the best friend ever.
