Once upon a time, there was a very quiet day called Holy Saturday. It was the day after Jesus died on the cross. The sky was still and gray, and the world felt very sad. Jesus’ friends were feeling lost and confused. They didn’t know what would happen next.

The disciples remembered how Jesus had told them many times about God’s wonderful plan. But now, they had to wait and hope. Waiting can be hard, like when you wait for your birthday or a special gift. Their hearts were heavy, but they tried to hold on to the hope Jesus gave them.

Mary, Jesus’ mother, sat quietly and thought about everything that had happened. She remembered Jesus’ kind words and the miracles He did. Her heart felt broken, but she believed God was still with them. She whispered softly, “Where are You, Jesus? We are waiting for You.”

The friends of Jesus gathered together in a little room. They closed the door and prayed. They prayed for courage and for God to keep His promises. The room was filled with soft whispers and quiet tears. They remembered Jesus said, “I will rise again.” That gave them a tiny light of hope in the dark.

Outside, the earth was still and the flowers were waiting to bloom. It was like the whole world was holding its breath. The sun was hiding behind the clouds, but the people knew that soon, the light would shine again. Just like the night turns to morning, God’s love was about to bring joy back.

The day was long and slow, but the friends kept trusting God. They didn’t see Jesus yet, but they believed He was doing something amazing. Waiting in hope means believing even when you can’t see the end. It’s like waiting for a rainbow after the rain—beautiful and bright.

At last, the quiet waiting would soon be over. The story was not finished. God’s love was stronger than sadness and death. The friends learned that sometimes, waiting is a way to grow stronger in faith and love.

Holy Saturday teaches us to trust God’s promises and to wait with hope, even when things seem hard. God is always with us, holding us close, just like He held Jesus.

Bible passage

Luke 23:50–24:7

Luke 23:50–24:7 (ICB)

50 Now there was a man named Joseph. He was a good and honest man.

51 He was a member of the Jewish council. He had not agreed with the other Jewish leaders about what they were doing to Jesus.

52 Joseph went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.

53 Then he took the body down from the cross and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth.

54 He put Jesus’ body in a new tomb that had been cut from a rock.

55 It was the day before the Sabbath. The Sabbath day was coming.

56 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph. They saw the tomb and how Jesus’ body was placed there.

24 Early on the first day of the week, the women went to the tomb. The sun was just coming up.

2 They took the spices they had made ready and went to the tomb.

3 They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance.

4 They went inside but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

5 Suddenly two men were there, dressed
