Once upon a time, in a land far away, there was a young boy named David. David was not a big soldier or a king. He was just a shepherd boy who took care of sheep. His hands were gentle, but his heart was brave and full of trust in God.
One day, a giant named Goliath came to fight against David’s people, the Israelites. Goliath was very tall and strong. He wore heavy armor that shined like the sun. His voice was loud and scary, and he shouted, “Who will fight me?” The soldiers were frightened. Even the king was worried.
David’s brothers were soldiers, and David went to bring them food. When David heard Goliath’s loud voice, he asked, “Who is this giant that makes my people afraid?” The people told David about Goliath and how no one wanted to fight him. But David was not afraid. He said, “I will fight him because God is with me!”
King Saul tried to give David armor and a sword, but David was not used to wearing heavy things. He said, “I can’t wear this. I will use my sling and stones.” A sling is a simple tool that helps throw stones very fast. David picked five smooth stones from a stream. They sparkled like tiny stars in his hand.
When David went to meet Goliath, the giant laughed and said, “Am I a dog that you come to fight me with sticks?” But David was brave. He said, “You come with a sword and spear, but I come in the name of the Lord, the God of Israel!” David swung his sling and threw a stone. The stone flew like a fast bird and hit Goliath right on his forehead.
Goliath fell down with a big thud! Everyone was amazed. David had won! The people cheered and danced. David showed them that trusting God is stronger than any giant or fear.
David’s heart was full of joy. He said, “The Lord saves us, and He gives us courage.” The sun shone bright, and the wind whispered happy songs. David knew that God was always with him, even when things looked scary.
And so, the little shepherd boy became a hero because he believed in God’s power and love. The story of David and Goliath reminds us that no matter how big the problem is, God is bigger and helps us be brave.
